It's almost too much of a challenge for the few volunteers out there. Public-private partnerships are good ideas, but it usually takes significant financial backing to get them started. This is all so shortsighted, because it seems to me it would take less money now to maintain what we have, rather than rebuild back up at some point in the future.Katie (Nature ID)https://www.blogger.com/profile/17730655720390625839noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8210757346121712556.post-31099000356395525062011-11-13T08:37:08.589-08:002011-11-13T08:37:08.589-08:00This will be a great shame if it comes to pass. Morro Strand State Beach is a beautiful stretch of beach that we always love to visit whenever we're up in Morro Bay (usually in January for the annual winter bird festival). At this juncture, only the locals, non-profits, and other advocacy groups have the power, through fundraising and volunteer efforts, to keep these places open or at least somewhat maintained.camissonia (Arleen)https://www.blogger.com/profile/10156059239148602974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8210757346121712556.post-31028452382977380572011-11-12T18:53:28.637-08:002011-11-12T18:53:28.637-08:00I love the 1st and 3rd photos.....beautiful!I love the 1st and 3rd photos.....beautiful!Jennifernoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8210757346121712556.post-85552971393175758182011-11-12T10:51:57.819-08:002011-11-12T10:51:57.819-08:00I'm having a hard time imagining state parks a...I'm having a hard time imagining state parks actually closed. But it is going to happen. The state park biologists I have been talking to are determined to keep working hard but they are glum. I don't know what to do but am hoping that once the parks have been closed for awhile, people will realize what they are missing and either Friends Of groups will organize to help with things like trash removal, or funding will change.Cindyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13378411362651806039noreply@blogger.com
