California buttercup

The first buttercups I've seen this year. It's a cheery little flower. There is a tiny Diptera in the second picture, and you've got me if you can ID it.

Very different from our rounder petaled ones we get here but the same "buttery" shine and bright color. :)

Hi Katie, I haven't heard the name 'Buttercup' in a long time.
