dudleya ~ 02/20/11 ~ Garland Ranch

First ferns, now succulents? I am trying to branch out and look at plants outside of my comfort zone. This is typically a more southernly plant and Monterey County is about as far north that it grows naturally. Does anyone have a good dudleya ID site to recommend?

I don't know about identifying the species, but the impressive butterfly, Philotes sonorensis, feeds on it! You might see females laying eggs on these plans in the coming month.

Thanks for the tip, Chris. I think I may have seen this butterfly in the past, but the orange flashes didn't make sense to me. Have you checked out BAMONA's new site facelift? http://www.butterfliesandmoths.org/
BoA, of which you contribute, now links to BAMONA for many distribution records.

It's a great improvement! BoA and BAMONA are teaming up to make a really useful site. It would be nice to see the Moth Photographers group combine with BAMONA too...

The one thing that bugs me on the new site is the 'historical' records where they have them ALL set to a default January 1, 1950. Of course this is more of a problem for the moths... just nit picking haha. I'm trying to contribute to both as much as possible!

Good morning, Chris. Funny you should comment considering at the moment I'm trying to ID a day flying moth from Friday's visit to Pinnacles. I'm going through Jerry's plates.
