tree year project 2011, #4

double rainbow from home
February 19, 2011

Although we see double rainbows fairly frequently if and when it rains, this was the best photo I've managed to get so far. I like the colorful umbrellas down on the Rec Trail of people turned to watch this natural beauty. If you look closely, my favorite friendly scrub jay is perched on the top of the unidentified pine toward the center of the photo. And, yes, the coast Douglas-fir that I'm featuring in The Tree Year project barely shows itself in the bottom left.

That is a stunning shot! I saw the same rainbow outside my house and took a couple photos myself. I love your perspective seeing it come right out of the ocean. It was such a beautiful day with my favorite combination of sunlight mixed with a stormy overcast sky.

What a dynamite view you have! Great double rainbow, too -- and yes, I saw your jay in the full-sized version.

Really nice photo. I sure wish I had a view like that from home. Even that scrub jay seems to be enjoying it.

Gorgeous. I have to say, this trumps the fading arc I saw last week from Alcatraz Island, touching land upon the industrial gray of West Oakland. I was staring at it trying to come up with some metaphor or haiku or something, but figured I'd just assume the pot of gold is in some East Bay warehouse and got back to work...!

Wow. That's just great. My spouse got a similar one in Ireland. Can't remember just what city though. :)
