Here, it didn't get above freezing all day. You win again!

?!? I was hoping someone would comment on the place of my pictures and the release of a certain movie today. We'll see.

So, when was your last ode sighting again? November 11? I don't know if you caught it, but I saw one last unidentified large blue darner November 18 flying in downtown Monterey. I've been wanting to get out to Los Padres Dam for a December sighting, but there've been all manner of distractions - windy rain, Andy's cold bug, holiday and birthday celebrations. I just hope the temperatures don't drop below freezing before we get inland.

Your weather seems to have been extreme this year. Maybe you'll have a white Christmas? Happy holidays, Graeme!

Movie? The only film that I've seen recently starred said dragonfly and your good self!

Yeah, the weather's been... Interesting.

I drove across to Somerset last night in sub zero temperatures, then returned today through torrential rain, a heady 10 degrees warmer.

Who knows what another 11 days will bring?

Yep, and even sooner it'll be the solstice, or "Wear your Rush t-shirt to work" day, as our youngest explained to me.

It's many years since we spent a Christmas by the coast, perhaps next year we will have to remedy that. Enjoy the break and I'll keep my fingers crossed that you have some inspirational nature experiences.

Fun!!! I'm quite envious you got to see the Hobbit holes! Going to see the movie?

Graeme, I actually saw another ode a week after my little video attempt. OK, I'll finally accept your concession. What's a Rush t-shirt? Thanks to a recent viral video, it looks like Brighton and Hove is a charming seaside town decked out in holiday cheer that you could head to next year.

Chris, are you still seeing any dragons in NC? Congrats on your new job! Yes, we're planning on going to the movie once the crowds go away. My first photo above is looking from Bag End on the spot where Bilbo and Gandalf smoke their pipes in Fellowship. The Party Tree is a real tree. Most of the Hobbit holes (there were a lot of them!) were boarded up when we went, because the sheep had taken to birthing their lambs in them. I'm not quite sure why that was a problem.

Brighton! [pause for flashbacks] Our Lass and I spent a great deal of time there, way back when. In fact, much of our courting (romantically, rather than criminally) happened between Brighton and Worthing (another seaside town further along the coast).

I do recall the Hungry Years Gathering Place, with its heavy rock disco [Sigh].

Which brings me to Rush... but there's probably a blog post to be had here, so can you be patient for a couple of days, please?

I do sigh a little sigh when I see this lovely picture of you staring out over the valley. I hope you will come back as I have done. Even just for a visit. Are you really in New Zealand?
