Often great egrets look much like snowy egrets (Egretta thula), especially from a distance and in photographs when the sense of size is misleading. I do love these birds. Stately and regal one instant and hunched over and curmudgeony the next. :)
Did you find the big round stone?
Jeannette, I did find a perfectly round rock a little past Lover's Point, but it wasn't lodged like yours was.
Thanks for that link. They are always cool birds to see while hiking.
